Space Afrika
Space Afrika are an experimental electronic duo formed by Joshua Tarelle Reid and Joshua Inyang, two longtime friends from Manchester with almost two decades of shared history. Their music creates spacious and spectral urban dubscapes where ambient, techno, trip hop and experimental electronics coexist with echoes of Northwest England’s industrial architecture.
Since their debut in 2014, they have developed a distinctive language through releases including Somewhere Decent to Live (2018), hybtwibt? (2020) and Honest Labour (2021), the album that brought their work international recognition. In 2023, they released A Grisaille Wedding with Rainy Miller, featuring collaborations with Mica Levi, Coby Sey and Richie Culver.
Their forthcoming album, Quiet Storm (2026), expands this universe through a more collaborative approach incorporating ambient, jazz, techno, modern classical music and contributions from Klein, Kelly Moran, RXKNephew, Vanessa Bedoret and Deuén. Inspired by the work of Glenn Ligon, the album explores identity, class and diaspora through an intimate, cinematic and deeply emotional perspective.
