Caterina Barbieri is an Italian composer who explores topics related to artificial intelligence and object-oriented sound perception through a focus on minimalism. She was originally trained int he use of the Buchla 200, a modular synthesis system, although she states that she prefers to focus on the music and not the type of gear used. In addition to her own albums, she composed the music for John and the Hole, a film shown at the Cannes festival in 2020 and in July 2021, she started her own independent label, called Light-years. .

She will present her new album, Spirit Exit, at MIRA 22. This work explores the psychophysical effects of repetition and pattern-based operations in music, investigating the polyphonic and polyrhythmic potential of sequencers to draw severe and complex geometries in time and space.
