“EXTRAORDINARY ALIEN” by FATIMA AL QADIRI & TRANSFORMA

SCREENING 360º

Extraordinary Alien is pure science fiction: a 360º fulldome piece that aims to create a convincing extraterrestrial form beyond the clichés of Hollywood movies. Generated with what appear to be simple materials, these generate textures similar to planetary surfaces, galaxies and alien masks. Add to this a soundtrack that is based on a single phrase that repeats itself with different sounds, as if it were making fun of the alien and its surroundings, and what we will be faced with in the MIRA Dome by adidas Originals is pure sci-fi tension, repetition and expectation.

Its creators are Fatima Al Qadiri (music and sound), a producer and multimedia artist whose work expresses her life experiences, often mixing certain aspects of Middle Eastern tradition with the new currents of electronic music, and Transforma (visuals), the creative company founded in 2001 by Luke Bennett, Baris Hasselbach and Simon Krahl, who produce audiovisual performances, installations and music videos through their unique vision of the live visual experience.

This piece is part of the “The New Infinity” programme, co-produced with Berliner Festspiele / Immersion and the Hamburg Planetarium for the MIRA Dome by adidas Originals at MIRA 2018.
