Grand River

Grand River is the project of Dutch Italian composer and musician Aimée Portioli, based in Berlin. Over the past decade, she has developed a practice situated between electronic music and sound art, combining electroacoustic composition, multichannel installations and performances that blur the boundaries between the gallery and the stage.

Inspired by kosmische music, film scores, experimental rock, ambient and avant classical music, she creates intense, painterly soundscapes through analog and digital synthesis, guitar and acoustic instrumentation. Works such as All Above (2023), In uno spazio immenso with Abul Mogard (2024) and Tuning the Wind (2025) explore memory, emptiness and the relationship between humanity and the natural world.

Her work has been presented at festivals including Atonal, CTM, MUTEK and WOS, and at venues such as Centre Pompidou, Barbican Centre and Berghain. She also runs One Instrument, a label dedicated exclusively to music created using a single instrument.
