Human Tech Talks – Maurice Mikkers: Imaginarium of Tears

⏱️ Thursday 9

“An ongoing photography collection of tears, with personal stories at its heart.” This is how Dutch photographer and laboratory technician Maurice Mikkers defines his extraordinary experiment Imaginarium of Tears. A scientific-emotional exploration like no other, it attempts to explain the natural history of tears and the technological impact that can be achieved by experimenting with them without following existing rules or guidelines.
Mikkers will be featured at MIRA in two ways. Not only will he give a talk about his unique work that seeks to break the boundaries between the laboratory and creativity, but attendees will also be able to visit his booth where they will receive a special “crying” kit to collect their tears, which can then be viewed under the microscope as they crystallize. A real wonder.
