Mura Masa

London-based phenomenon Alex Crossan, known worldwide as Mura Masa, resists simple categorization, but he is determined to make a difference. The fact that he has racked up billions of streams hasn’t stopped Crossan, a platinum and Grammy Award winner, from weaving complex and intricate electronic productions, always glowing with samples, backbeats and live instruments.

In 2017 he scored a huge hit with his eponymous debut album. From A$AP Rocky to Charli XCX to Damon Albarn, some of the biggest stars on the planet decided to collaborate with a teenager from Guernsey on his own exciting vision of what modern pop music should sound like. His follow-up R.Y.C (2020) was another bold reinvention of Mura Masa’s sound and style, influenced by new wave, emo, folk and 90s rave. The project, a concept album that questions nostalgia, featured artists such as Clairo, slowthai, Tirzah and Georgia. 

His latest full-length, demon time (2022), was recorded during the pandemic with guests ranging from Lil Uzi Vert to PinkPantheress and from Pa Salieu to Erika de Casier. Conceived at a time when people needed vicarious and escapist music, it once again channels great themes and underground nuances with his futuristic pop formula.
