Sara Sadik presents Khtobtogone

IDEAL – Digital Arts Center

Length: 16 minutes

Country: Francia

Khtobtogone follows Zine, a young man on his way to propose to his girlfriend, as he becomes a better man, and also describes the emotional rollercoasters of politics infused into his daily life, as a young working-class Frenchman from the Maghrebi diaspora, as well as the battles and struggles he has to go through to regain his self-confidence and self-esteem.

The real-life stories of Ahmed Ra’ad Al Hamid and Brian Chiappetta inspire all texts.

Halfway between fiction and documentary, Sara Sadik’s video and performance work is inspired by video games, anime, and manga, but also by initiation stories and features characters challenged to achieve physical and mental transformation.
