SHOWS

MIRA closes the line-up of the 9th edition of the festival with 5 projects that join those already announced previously and that complete the line-up in Fabra i Coats—the main space of the festival—on 7, 8 and 9 November, as well as the Afterparty programme at Razzmatazz on Saturday 9 and a special show at L’Auditori in Barcelona on Tuesday 5 November.

NEON CHAMBERS LIVE 

The duo Neon Chambers, formed by Sigha + Kangding Ray, two of the leading figures of contemporary techno, will present their latest project in Razzmatazz live on Saturday 9 November. They will do so accompanied (for the first time in Spain) by the light installation designed by multimedia artist Gabriela Prochazka.

PERERA ELSEWHERE LIVE BAND A/V

The London-born, Berlin-based producer and composer will present her recently released EP, “Thrill”, a mixture of raw and autochthonous sounds mixed with her voice, along with a live band. Their show will be accompanied by visual work by German director Hugo Holger Schneider.

OR:LA DJ SET 

In just over three years, young Northern Irish DJ and producer OR:LA has become one of the most relevant in the current scene. Best breakthrough DJ according to DJ Mag UK in 2017, NTS resident and co-founder of the Deep Sea Frequency label, she joins MIRA Festival as part of the Razzmatazz club programme.

TRISTAN PERICH + VICKY CHOW present SURFACE IMAGE LIVE 

L’Auditori de Barcelona will host the presentation of “Surface Image” by Tristan Perich on Tuesday 5 November. The piece, interpreted by Canadian pianist Vicky Chow, features a 40-channel speaker system that acts as an electronic orchestra. This show requires a separate ticket that can be purchased through our website.

RALLY A/V JAM

Rally is an electronic music collective based in Valencia formed by video artists, producers and DJs that find inspiration in demolitions, broken dishes and Mad Max cars. Artists such as Arca, Total Freedom, Daniel Benza or Marco Henri have performed at their parties. They will present an improvised A/V jam that promises pure joyful noise.

CONFERENCE PROGRAMME 

Under the concept of DESTRUCTION ¤ GENESIS, on Thursday 7 November we will present a series of conferences dedicated to the debate around the contemporary world and digital culture.

We will have the AUDINT collective—formed by Kode9, Eleni Ikoniadou and Toby Hey—who will present their anthology on sound and sonic perceptions; Under the title “Comprehensive Thinkers for the Post-Anthropocene”, Berlin artist and designer Fara Peluso will present her work based on the interconnection between art, design and science; new media artist Matteo Zamagni will screen his film Horror Vacui, and we will have a round table, “Computational Invisible Control”, on the possibilities and alternatives of digital art, led by Lara Benítez, Mario Santamaría, Joana Moll and Andreu Belsunces.

MIRA DOME by adidas Originals

Today we launch the complete programme of MIRA Dome by adidas Originals, the 360º dome dedicated to immersive projects in fulldome format, co-produced together with Eyesberg Studio. A total of 6 video art pieces will be screened during the festival in Fabra i Coats: Elektra by Metahaven, Non-Face by Robert Lippok and Lucas Gutierrez, Realness by Sandrine Deumier and Myriam Bleu, Xpansion by the V.P.M. collective, and The Happiest Thought by Agnieszka Polska.

METAHAVEN presents ELEKTRA

Elektra, by the Metahaven design studio with specially composed music by Kara-Lis Coverdale, is a mixture of animation and live action that reflects on childhood and the past in the present. The piece is part of the “The New Infinity” programme, co-produced with Berliner Festspiele / Immersion and the Hamburg Planetarium.

ROBERT LIPPOK and LUCAS GUTIERREZ present NON-FACE

The aim of sound artist Robert Lippok and digital artist Lucas Gutiérrez has been to create a piece in which to make the sonic and visual limits tangible, playing with impossible objects and virtual geometries. Non-Face is part of the “The New Infinity” programme, co-produced with Berliner Festspiele / Immersion and the Hamburg Planetarium.

SANDRINE DEUMIER Y MYRIAM BLEAU present REALNESS

Realness is an audiovisual project created by digital artist Sandrine Deumier and composer Myriam Bleau, a reflection on the potential symbiosis between human beings and a state of rediscovered vegetal nature, an opportunity to experiment with non-human life forms. One of the winning projects of the MIRA x Hangar open call.

V.P.M. presents XPANSION

Xpansion is a project based on the theory of the expansion of the universe as an echo of the Big Bang, an audiovisual installation in 360º that aims to address the difficulty of visualising the forces that sustain and expand the universe, space and dark energy. One of the winning projects of the MIRA x Hangar open call.
