MIRA 2017 Second Artists Announcement

Today we are announcing the second wave of artists confirmed for MIRA’s forthcoming edition, to be held in Fabra i Coats on 9, 10 and 11 November. Among these new confirmations AV Shows, VJ Sets, 3D Sound Shows, DJ Sets, 360º Screenings and Conferences can be found.

With regard to the music section, British producer Shackleton who’s joined forces with singer Anika Henderson for “Behind The Glass” (Woe to The Septic Heart, 2017), a work that’ll be premiered in Spain. In addition, Pedro Maia will be in charge of the cinema 4D-inspired visual part of the show.

North American producer William Basinski, known for the legendary “The Disintegration Loops” (2002-2003), will premiere in Spain his latest album “A Shadow in Time · For David Robert Jones” (Temporary Residence Ltd, 2016), consisting of two parts and composed with the old synthesizer Voyetra 8M, a series of loops created with cassettes and paying tribute to David Bowie.

British duo of geniuses Emptyset who have made some majestic performances, installations and field recordings, will head for the Spanish premiere of “Borders” (Thrill Jockey, 2017), with an immersive, world-unique AV Show.

µ-ZIQ, the moniker of legend Mike Paradinas, comes back to premiere his still unedited new album, certainly a unique chance to discover the brand new work from one of the key figures of electronica. For their part Paranoid London, an awesome British duo doing Acid House, will also premiere its also unedited work at the festival plus a mind-blowing visual show.

Suso Saiz, Spanish new age pioneer, composer, guitar player, and founder of the legendary Orquesta de la Nubes, will present the recent “Rainworks” (Music From Memory, 2017), published after “Odisea” (Music From Memory, 2016), an album collecting the best of the best from his long career.

Chinese producer Tzusing, one of the main names of electronica’s east wing who’s debuted with “東方不敗” (L.I.E.S, 2017), will perform a DJ Set that’ll turn dark into contemporary club music.

Kai Hugo, Dutch musician and producer based in Los Angeles, heads with his solo project Palmbomen II. We’ll catch him at the 3D Sound by SON Estrella Galicia, where his particular vision of 80s spontaneous and rough house will emerge thanks to the great EPs ‘Memories of Cindy’ (Beats in Space, 2017). Barcelonian legendary techno duo Ferenc will also play at our new stage as Fra Soler and Maxi Ruiz are coming back after several years with brand new material to play.

Barcelonian artist Espinoza, who’s just published “Antología” (FDdV, 2017), will offer a live set completely made with modular synthesizers while presenting material created exclusively for the performance. Documentary filmmaker, producer and visual artist Raimundo Morte will be responsible for the visual load of the show.

Darío Alva, Argentinian artist focused on the 3D compositing better known by his alias Cavecanems, together with the Valencian musician Diego Navarro, who has just released the EP ‘Nurture’ (Sweat Taste, 2017), will present Vessels an atmospheric LIVE A/V based on Navarro’s EP.

Regarding MIRA Dome’s 360º Screenings, we have announced ‘Homeomorphism’ by OUCHHH, a creative agency of new media based in Istanbul. This piece is a fulldome visual treaty on the forms of nature, especially topography and its strength expressed in New Mexico landscapes, their source of inspiration.

For the VJs section, we are pleased to announce Jorge Cumbre, Spanish graphic and multimedia designer based in Amsterdam. Jorge will set the controls of the visual elements that’ll turn I-F’s DJ Set into a first class AV Show.

MIRA 2017: three days of digital arts

 

Following last edition’s formula, MIRA 2017 will open its doors on Thursday, November 9, on a day with limited capacity that will see conferences and masterclasses around digital arts, the opening of large format immersive installations and the premiere of the 360º Screenings in MIRA Dome as well as several AV Shows. With this we want to offer a unique opportunity to our audience so they can enjoy the program in a more relaxed and comfortable way.

For this first day, we have announced that Xavi Tribó, in charge of I+D lab Xavi’s Lab (Special projects’ department of the well-known Glassworks Studio), will give a conference focused on the technologies that surround us and will surround as, for example, ultra-realistic simulators they’ve built for their clients.

Friday 10 and Saturday 11 November sessions will join the bulk of the program dedicated to live music and visual shows -both in the main stage of the festival and in the new 3D Sound Room by SON Estrella Galicia-, as well as immersive installations and 360º Screenings in MIRA Dome.
